After completing his freshman year, Nikhil spent the summer working for Breakthrough Collaborative, a nonprofit organization that is addressing educational inequalities across the country. He worked as a 7th grade U.S. History, English, Speech and Debate teacher in New Orleans. Working with high-potential students from low-income families, many of whom were highly impacted by Hurricane Katrina, Nikhil came away with a better understanding of the education field and how an entire community deals with tragedy.

The following summer Nikhil interned at eNews, South Africa's first independent 24-hour news television channel. This internship allowed Nikhil to see South Africa from many different angles as he covered a variety of stories each week. Nikhil spent the latter half of the summer taking a Political Economy course at The London School of Economics.

At Duke, Nikhil is president of the club golf team, philanthropy chair of his fraternity, and a member on the debate team. He is double majoring in Economics and Public Policy.
